International
Cuisine
There are many restaurants that fall into
the category of “International”. A bit of Spanish cuisine,
some English dishes, a curry or two to tempt your
tastebuds.
You will find these restaurants all along
the coast, here are a few that we have experience with:
Hotel Tamisa Golf
The Hotel Tamisa is on the main road running
past the Mijas Golf complex. It is about a fifteen
minute walk from El Limonar, two minutes in a car. Go out of
the main gates and turn right and it is only a few hundred
metres up the road.
The restaurant is lively and popular, the food is excellent,
the staff are professional, the bar areas are comfortable, what
more do you need?
Booking is definitely recommended as places are limited: 0034

Byblos Hotel
Directly across the golf course from the apartments is the
Byblos Hotel. Five star quality, very pretty decor, superb
staff, and good food. Well worth a special night out, or just
go there at lunchtime for a snack by the pool.
El Oceano
On the N340 at Km. 199, the El Oceano has a
superb location overlooking the mediterranean.
Not the cheapest restaurant by any means, expect to pay between
60 - 75 euros per person for a three course meal with wine, but
one of the very best.
The hotel and restaurant are family run and most nights you
will find them eating there which is a testament to the
food.
Their fillet steaks are some of the most tender that I have
ever had the pleasure of eating, they really do melt in the
mouth.
Coupled with live entertainment every night of the week you are
guaranteed a wonderful night out!

Val Paraiso
You will find this restaurant half way up
the hill on the way to Mijas Pueblo. It is a lively and
entertaining place with intelligent and friendly staff, keep
an eye out for the bossman, Pedro. He rules with a firm
but very comical hand.
The food is some of the best in the area, the entertainment is
lively and varies from opera, sung by someone who looks
suspiciously like Michael Schumacher!, to jazz, to string
quartet, to DJ. Different nights, different entertainment.
Certainly recommended for a special night out, make sure that
the staff know that it's a birthday or other special occasion
as they love making a fuss of you!
El Potro
Only five minutes away from Mijas Golf by
car near the El Coto urbanisation. Turn left out of Mijas
Golf then first left after La Morena restaurant and left at
the T junction at the end of that road. El Potro is clearly
signposted about a kilometer up on the left in an
urbanisation.
The owners, Adam and Wendy, set out to create a relaxed and
homely atmosphere and succeeded.
The menu is fairly extensive with loads of British favourites
available.
I have to thoroughly recommend the “Seafood Skewers” as a
starter, I would have been more than happy if that was all I
had eaten as the taste was just divine!
Prices are reasonable, around 30 to 35 euros per person with
wine.
On Sunday you can get their “All You Can Eat Buffet” for 12
euros per head + drinks, really good value.
Manhattan
This restaurant is on the road up to Mijas
Pueblo, you will see the signs for Bugsy´s, their fitness
centre, before you see the restaurant sign.
The menu is mostly basic home cooking style food with Grimsby
Cod and chips one of their specials.
I have to say that their service is not that fantastic - we
went there as a party of seven and only three of the main
courses turned up as ordered!
Luckily mine was correct, the previously mentioned cod and
chips, and it was really tasty. Just about the perfect fish and
chips.
The rest either turned up with different sauces from what had
been ordered or didn´t turn up at all.
The staff were not particularly helpful or efficient and seemed
to spend more time eating their own meal rather than serve the
paying guests!
Try it if you want some good home cooking but don´t be
surprised if the service isn´t all that it should be!
