Spanish Ventas
Restaurante La Moreno
This family run venta is only a ten minute walk away from the
apartments at El Limonar if you don´t fancy driving. Turn left
out of the golf course back towards Fuengirola and look for the
sign on the right hand side only a few hundred metres down the
road.
The decor is fairly basic, as in most ventas, but the prices
are good and the portions tend to be quite large. New for 2007
is a redesigned outdoor terrace at the back of the building
with access to a childrens play area.
My personal recommendation is for the Patella de Cordero Horno,
or oven roasted shoulder of lamb.
They cook the lamb very long and slow until the meat just falls
off the bone - I never go for a starter if I am having this
dish as generally there is enough lamb to feed two or three
people at normal portion size, absolutely fantastic!
Also their mixed paella has had many rave reviews so give it a
try.
Open every night except Tuesday, very popular with the Spanish
later in the evening and on Sunday lunchtime.
We have heard a few guests complain about the service but we
have never had a problem, possibly as we try to speak Spanish
with the staff, and we never want burger and chips!
Restaurante El Golf This
restaurant is on the urbanisation and is an easy ten minute
walk away, just far enough to work up an appetite.
The terraces have views over the golf course, the staff are
friendly, the service is unhurried, what more do you need?
They do a superb lunchtime set menu that is under 10 euros.
Possibly the only meal you would need in a day as the portions
are generous.
The night time atmosphere is relaxed and intimate and the food
is superb.
Well Recommended
Hoyo 19
Again this restaurant is only a short distance away from Mijas
Golf. Out of the golf course, turn left and go past Restaurante
La Moreno. You will see Hoyo 19 on the left just past the T
junction.
They do a very basic three course meal with half a bottle of
wine per person for under 12 euros.
The choice is limited but they do provide childrens menus and
there is a play area outside for the kids after they have
finished eating.
Very popular with families.
Las Viandes This small
family run restaurant is one of those hidden treasures.
Situated at the castle end of Fuengirola it is popular with
residents, both English and Spanish.
The menu is extensive, the 'menu del diá' is well priced, and
the food is always superb.
We try to keep this one to ourselves so if you want directions
you will have to ask us!
La Luna This restaurant
is situated less than ten minutes away in an urbanisation
below Mijas Pueblo.
They provide a comprehensive menu at very reasonable rates. The
food is excellent, the service is efficient and friendly and
the decor is charming.
Definitely recommended for a pleasant evening out.
